What a rotten week
Got past the hangover, had a day of feeling decent, then got flu. I feel like I probably picked it up from my uncle, or else my neighbour, because those are the only two people I really had any contact with. My uncle would make the most sense, because he looks after his grand kids three days a week, and children are germ factories.
Turns out, my uncle got stuck in road works in Woodland, so he decided to take a detour off the interstate and got stuck again on the back roads, because the whole of I-5 had the same idea and clogged up the tiny little roads that weren't meant for Portland-to-Seattle levels of traffic. But he got up here about three hours late, and while he and my husband moved heavy furniture around real quick, I made plans with his wife for later this weekend. The two of us have tickets for Eddie Izzard next month, and I'd like to get down there before then at least once for just a quiet visit, but I'm not sure if that's likely to happen at this point. Between her and me both having a stupid amount of appointments and engagements between now and then, there's a single weekend open where it would make sense, and anything could happen.
But then we got the stuff up here, and they had to rush out because they had other plans after here that got fucked up after their adventures stuck in traffic. So we got everything put back together, and here's our barter haul.

Not bad for what effectively came out to a collective $35 or so. We're keeping the dresser we already had for things we both share, and I'm going to move some other things into it as well, and using the new one so that we can each finally have our own separate sides instead of just digging through half of that in size for both of us. The rolltop is becoming my new media centre, and completes a project I started back in March. We dropped all our streaming services except a choice few, and then I ripped all our DVDs to a hard drive which is on this computer back here, and networked it to a laptop which now lives in the rolltop. The laptop is connected to a TV on the black stand just to the left there, and can access the entire hard drive. All 8TB of it. It's also got a VPN on it, so that's how we watch stuff on networks like Channel 4 and ITV and Dave. I'm going to get a second cheapo laptop soon, and set it up in the bedroom. That's what that long cable is, because right now I just move the laptop back and forth when I want to watch something back there.
The desk needs some restoration work, but it's a low priority. For now, I just draped a flag over it that I had on the table the laptop was previously sat on. The dresser is in perfect condition, and I can't believe all she wanted was a half rack of beer and lunch for it. I never did see her after I got her that, either. She said she'd come round before she left, but she never did. She's always been so fucking weird about that; never once came over to ours. The onus was always on us to visit her, and that's always been a quality in people that I find exceptionally odd. But we'll see who moves in there next, if anyone. There have been units in this building that have been vacant for over six months. I can't imagine they'll have an easy time getting a top floor unit filled now with an active roofing project going.
And then that was all I got done. Monday I woke up feeling disgusting, and it only got worse from there. I finally started feeling better yesterday, and got some work done finally. Barely been out of the house all week, and today I'm going to try to go for a walk finally after today's Taskmaster. Haven't done that all week, and I need to get back into the habit now the weather's cooling down finally.
