Dear Yulegoat
Oct. 15th, 2012 02:41 amHello, dearest yulegoat! May your season be a merry one and may my prompts not be too difficult! My prompts on AO3 are a bit vague, because I never know what the character limit over there is. So here's my letter, which will hopefully make things easier.
Dirk Gently
My first fandom for this year is Dirk Gently. I love that Gently's a complete hack who somehow, through the nature of the universe he inhabits, somehow manages to get it right. His methods are all over the place, and really rely on the old Holmesian principle of improbable doesn't mean impossible.
So, what happens when Gently employs deductive reasoning, rather than holistic detection? Does he get the same outcome, only more efficiently? Is it slower? Or is he just plain wrong? Furthermore, how exactly do his methods manage to work when they absolutely shouldn't? Include Macduff if you want, or go with pre-canon, with a young Gently still finding his feet. Whichever way you fancy. And if you want to bring back Max, I would not complain.
Journey into Mystery
PLEASE NOTE: In the interest of avoiding spoilers, I've recently done a huge, cross-country move, and have not had the time nor money to find a decent comic shop in my new area. I've not read past Thor #20 or JiM #643.
What I'm requesting shouldn't necessitate spoilers anyway, but I wanted to put that there just in case. As for the request itself, Loki and Leah always seemed to have different ideas as to what their relationship was. I'd like to see what led to these ideas. Possibly more for Loki, as his idea seems to think them BFFs. What do they do when they're not off scheming and saving realms and freeing hel hounds? Show me what they do on their down time, whatever down time a child god of chaos and servant to Hel might have.
Mostly looking for fluff with this one, since Journey into Mystery seems to exist only to tear out my heart and stamp all over it.
Hitchhiker's Guide
My requests this year are dominated by Douglas Adams, it would seem. For this one, I'd really like a bit of world-building. Show me new places Ford and Arthur have seen. Culture shock, disgusting cuisines, crimson skies. All that stuff.
If world-building is not your forte, how many times can Arthur complain about a lack of tea before Ford finally loses his cool? How much nonsense can Ford spout before Arthur loses the ability to resist hauling off and smacking him? Basically, how annoyed can the boys get with one another without actually causing the other's death?
