Fandom wank, and a hill I will die on

It's quieted down a bit over the last couple of days, but there has been some bizarrely weird wank on Tumblr lately. Wank that harkens back to awful 2011 fanon that made me want to tear my eyeballs out then.

TL;DR, people are PISSED that they keep giving Loki knives and weapons and having him fight in the MCU.

Now, granted, they definitely de-powered him for some odd reason, and his magic seems to be parlour tricks at best. But man, that fanon from a decade ago, that Loki is a delicate flower who is nothing without his magic has really held strong. And I don't get it. I guess, Eir-Gram, Gram, Lævateinn, Jarnbjorn, and his unnamed whip mean nothing.

Look. Loki should be both fighting and casting forbidden magic. He can do both! idk why people seem to think it's either one or the other, when doing both has been a big part of his edge for so long.

The MCU is a fucking mess, and I would love to know why they went in the direction they did with pretty much everything in the Thor movies.
