I want to love Aeon Timeline.  I spent so much money on it, and all it's done is frustrate me to no end.

After my last post, I decided to start over.  Maybe the issue was that I'd tried to import from Scrivener, and even after disconnecting there was some weirdness.  So I created a brand new save, and set up my timeline in the opposite way as before by overlaying the Gregorian calendar on top of my Asgard one.  It solved the snapping problem I was having with moving timeline events around, presumably because there are fewer days in a "year" now.  I don't have as much frustration with my repeating events, but there's still a few glitches every now and then.  And the fact that once you set up a repeating event, it's set in stone is annoying.  They stack on your timeline, which means you can cover up an old one and never see it again, which was frustrating because I'd forgotten that and had to redo my timeline about three times.

But I got my timeline put back together, and then I started working on my characters and locations.  It turns out that the lagginess was not because of the sync with Scrivener.  It just straight up cannot handle large projects.  Which is hilarious, because the larger a project is, the more useful a tool like this becomes.  My family tree is laggy and unresponsive still.  And even worse, I tried to set up the "Relationships" page, which I hadn't been able to previously because it had imported every damn scrap of a document as a scene.

Yeah, no.  I clicked on the page, and the app crashed.  Luckily, it was able to recover my previous two hours' of work from memory and I didn't lose anything, but fucking hell.

It's such a good concept, but it is not worth the money I paid for it, by a long shot.  I'm only using it for fanfic right now too.  If I were trying to use this for a project where my income depended on being able to streamline my output, I'd be livid.
