And then I remembered that I spent quite a lot of it out in the sun, only to immediately come home and eat an entire pizza. So that might have something to do with it.

The appointment itself went well, but it was just a routine cleaning. I also got some special new toothpaste to help with these fucking canker sores that are still bugging me and not going away, so hopefully that finally does the trick. Getting to the appointment was another story entirely. As I was fucking around getting ready to leave, my PO box texted me that I had a package arrive, which was not a surprise. When they were announced several months back, I'd ordered one of the Chesham United shirts, and had it sent to a friend in the UK, who forwarded it on to me after it arrived. So, I was like, oh cool, I can go pick that up. The problem was immediately that the mail keys were not on the hook next to the Doctor Strange statue. Nor were they in my husband's hat, where he likes to put them when he takes them. So I was instantly in a flap about missing mail keys, because that's actually quite worrying. I wound up spending more time than I should have done looking for keys, and eventually just decided to take his house keys as well as mine, because he has a spare copy of the PO box key. I don't know why I didn't just take his and leave mine, except for the fact that mine have a clip that attaches to my bag, so I was able to put his on mine and attach both to my bag. Then, I went to the PO box and picked up the package, and by the time I got out of there, I was effectively leaving the house twenty minutes late. So that was a stressful walk all the way to the dentist, since it's about a half hour to get there and I'm the sort of person who likes to be about 15 minutes early to things. Lucky for me, they were all at a lunch meeting anyway, so by the time I got there, they were just finishing up so it didn't matter anyway.

After that, I went down to this pizza place a couple blocks from my apartment to pick up lunch for our movie date. While I was there, I was chatting with the ladies behind the counter and learned that the place my husband was planning on going (providing they were open) is a Known Problem and should probably not be eaten at ever again. Since we've lived here, it's been about six different things, which we've always found very funny. There are a few other places in town that have been run through the mill like that, so it never really stuck out as terribly odd that this one place keeps changing, except for the fact that this place is always re-opening with the same sort of generic Asian menu. It turns out, it's because it's the same people getting shut down and re-opening. Then while we were chatting about that, my husband texted me that he'd woken up early and was on the way to go get his stuff, so I told him that I'd stolen his keys because I couldn't find the mail keys. Then I told him that I also have mine, because I didn't expect him to wake up early and need either set, so. Whoops? But then he called ahead (not to the previous place, because they were indeed closed, but somewhere else) and was able to pick his stuff up and get home before I got my pizza, but he was only waiting outside the door for a few minutes. But that's what he gets for leaving the mail key in his trousers and throwing them in the laundry where I'd never fucking find them.

We watched the Venture Bros movie, and I loved it. I low-key regret not watching the series like I'd meant to though. I really should have done that.

Overall, very good. Loved the whole thing, and what it lost in time from not getting a full season, it made up for in budget and room to breathe from not being on broadcast. Being on HBO gave it room to do a few more things that Adult Swim probably would not have let them get away with. But it's odd to think that in all likelihood, it is over. A 20 year old fandom, and one of my oldest ones done. I said 19 years yesterday, because I thought it started a year later than it did, but nope. It started in 2003. It's an old goddamn show, and it's so weird to think that it only got seven seasons in those 20 years. Or maybe it isn't, because I've read some things that have hinted that they aren't done yet, and it would be rather silly for HBO to have bought up the property to only do one movie. Either way, I'm happy with it. If it ends here, it was a satisfying way to close it out. If it goes on, they gave themselves a good relaunch point. I'll watch it for another 20 years if they give it to me, frankly. I love stupid comic book shit that takes the piss out of itself, and that's exactly what this show is at its heart. 10/10, A+. Fantastic.

Also, finally watched this week's Buzzcocks, because that eventually went up while we were watching all that. I love how difficult Sky shows are to get hold of sometimes. It really is such a pain in the ass. A friend of mine says she gets it through ITV-something, which I do have access to, but not the premium service, and I can't verify that it is on there before I take the steps to bully it into giving me access. Also, ITV's site has the exact same horrible setup as BritBox, AKA horribly unsearchable and organised in absolutely no order whatsoever. It's terrible. You can't even ctrl+F to search for things, because all of the show titles are embedded into images, and who the fuck does that? Anything starting with "the" is alphabetised under T, and this is why I never watch anything on ITV.

I've also been picking my way through Becoming Elizabeth over the last week, and finished it last night. I didn't realised I had finished it until it ended, and then I went online to see when the next series was, only to learn it's been cancelled as well. So that's a shame. If I'd known that I probably wouldn't have even started it, because I really got into that one. Oh well. But at that point, it was quite late, so I went to bed. I've got another appointment today, and then ostensibly nothing at all for the rest of the month, but that never stays true for long. But on my way home I'm gonna stop by the pharmacy and get my flu and covid jabs for the year, and then come home and die about it, because getting those two and the same time always fucks me up. But maybe doing that means I'll be able to finish this fucking blanket finally. I'm so close to done. I just want it to be done, and if I can get it done this weekend I can finally be free.

And then I'll start a new one and lose my mind over that.
