and my husband's reaction was completely unfazed. As I was unloading it all onto the sofa, he actually said, "I'm surprised it took you this long," as I've been going on walks for about a year and have yet to drag home anything dead until now.

I should clarify that the bag full of dead things I dragged home was a bag full of furs, which was so large it cut my walk short. I'd passed by this antique shop, and they had a bunch of stuff out front, though they were taking everything in for the evening. Even so, I went up to nose through what was left anyway, and found a big bin full of furs. As I opened it to see what condition they were in, the guy running the place walked up and said, "I'll give you the whole thing for $20." I didn't even hesitate. Sold. It was only then that I noticed the bin also had a bunch of mirrors and a pair of carding brushes in as well. Once I got them home, I noticed they were priced at $5 and $10 respectively, so I walked away with a pretty good deal.

They're not amazing furs on their own. A couple of collars from old coats, and a lot of scraps, but that's fine. I'm going to take the spotted ones at least (what kind of cat is that? I think it's definitely a cat of some sort) and stitch them together to make a cover thing for that desk we got from my uncle, and then I won't have to worry about the water damage on the top of it. The other bits, I don't know. I'll burn that bridge when I get to it.
